Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase with Two Children in Car Across Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland Police say a man is in custody after leading officers and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers on a chase Thursday night with two young children in his vehicle.

The pursuit was part of an ongoing violent crime reduction initiative operating in Cleveland and surrounding communities.

Chase Captured on Aerial Video

Authorities said the incident began when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle at a gas station late Thursday. The driver reportedly refused to stop, speeding away with two children still inside the car.

Aerial footage from Cleveland 19 News showed multiple vehicles pursuing the suspect across several roadways before troopers finally managed to bring the car to a stop. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident.

Children Safely Recovered

Police confirmed that the two children were found unharmed after being left behind at the gas station earlier in the pursuit. They were safely returned to family members a short time later, according to officials.

Part of Wider Crime Reduction Operation

The driver’s arrest was one of ten arrests made Thursday night under a coordinated law enforcement push to reduce violent and high-risk criminal activity across the city. The initiative includes cooperation between Cleveland Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and federal task forces.

Investigators have not yet released the suspect’s name or detailed charges but say more information will be made public as the case develops.
