Georgia Woman Mauled to Death by Dogs While Walking Home

GEORGIA — A Union City family is mourning the devastating loss of a 62-year-old grandmother who was mauled to death by a group of dogs while walking home from the bank. Donna Nguyen, a mother of four and grandmother of five, was attacked on August 1 along Lakeside Drive in a quiet Georgia neighborhood.

Her son, Charles Ingram, described the experience as something no family should endure. “It’s a nightmare,” he told WRDW News.

A Devoted Matriarch Remembered

Nguyen was described by her family as caring, outgoing, and full of life. “She’d give you the shirt off her back,” Ingram said. “Love the laugh. Have fun. Very outgoing person.”

A lover of long walks, Nguyen had just visited her bank and was returning home when she was viciously attacked. Her son confirmed that the family recovered her bank receipts from that morning, offering a chilling timestamp of her final moments.

Severe Injuries and a Rapid Decline

Nguyen sustained deep lacerations to her face, legs, and arms during the attack. Doctors at Grady Hospital initially planned to amputate both her arms in an effort to save her life. Tragically, those efforts were not enough.

“She got sepsis, and when they got her back to the OR, they realized there was too much to cut off,” Ingram said. “The infection reached her brain, kidneys, and liver. Her organs just shut down.”

Dogs Seized, Owner Responds

Video footage taken by Nguyen’s family and the dog owner, David Scott Evans, shows Fulton County Animal Services removing several dogs from the property near where the attack occurred.

Authorities have since euthanized four of the dogs connected to the incident. Evans, the dogs’ owner, has been cited for multiple violations, including dog bites, dogs running at large, and leaving animals unattended.

Despite the accusations, Evans expressed disbelief: “I can’t believe it’s my dogs,” he told WRDW. “They wouldn’t give me any straight information. They said they had body cam footage, but I’ve never seen it.”

He maintained that his dogs were small and had never shown signs of aggression. “The real dogs doing this stuff are still out there,” he said.

Family Demands Accountability

As the investigation continues, Charles Ingram says his family is determined to hold someone accountable for the tragic loss of their matriarch.

“I’m gonna push for everything,” he said. “My mama deserves justice. I’m gonna take it to the limit.”

Fulton County officials confirmed that a fifth dog remains in custody, and the case has been escalated to the Fulton County Police Department’s Animal Services Division. Charges are expected as the investigation progresses.
