Georgia Weather Alert: Sunny Stretch Begins Monday, With Isolated Storms Possible South of Atlanta

ATLANTA, G.A. — North Georgia is set to begin the week under clear skies and warm afternoons, while forecasters caution that areas south of Atlanta could see spotty afternoon thunderstorms through midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Atlanta Forecast: Dry and Sunny

For metro Atlanta, the outlook remains bright. Monday will bring sunshine and highs near 80°F, with a gradual warming trend reaching the mid-80s by Wednesday.

Drivers along I-75, I-20, and the Downtown Connector can expect dry roads and smooth travel conditions through much of the week.

Storm Risks South of the Metro

A weak disturbance is forecast to trigger isolated thunderstorms south of a Columbus-to-Macon line, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours through Wednesday.

Though widespread hazardous weather is not expected, residents in Macon, Swainsboro, and surrounding counties should prepare for sudden downpours and lightning during outdoor activities.

Dry Pattern Raises Concerns

NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook keeps much of Georgia drier than average, which could stress lawns, gardens, and local streams if the pattern continues. Lower humidity levels later in the week also raise concerns about fire safety, prompting officials to remind residents to use caution with outdoor burning.

Five-Day Forecast for Atlanta

  • Monday: Sunny, high 80°F
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high 81°F
  • Wednesday: Sunny, high 85°F
  • Thursday: Sunny, high 87°F
  • Friday: Sunny, high 83°F

Georgia residents will see a split forecast: sunny and warm in metro Atlanta, with isolated storms farther south adding some unpredictability to midweek plans.
