GBI Investigating Shooting Death of 16-Year-Old Jamahri Sims in Tifton
TIFTON, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has launched an investigation into the shooting death of 16-year-old Jamahri Sims, who was found fatally wounded Monday afternoon in Tifton.
Teen Killed in Monday Afternoon Shooting
According to officials, Tifton Police officers responded around 1 p.m. Monday to the 1100 block of South Central Avenue after receiving a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Sims suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to Tift Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Second Victim Injured in the Shooting
Investigators said another person was also shot during the same incident. That victim was later located at a nearby home on East 13th Street and taken to the hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
The GBI Crime Lab in Macon will conduct an autopsy on Sims’s body as part of the ongoing investigation.
