Father in Viral ‘Phillies Karen’ Video Speaks Out After Ballpark Clash
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The father caught in a viral ballpark confrontation with the woman now dubbed “Phillies Karen” is speaking out, saying he only wanted to protect his son from a public scene.
How the Viral Clash Began
The incident happened during Friday’s Phillies–Marlins game at LoanDepot Park when Harrison Bader launched a solo home run into the stands. Drew Feltwell, who was at the game with his son Lincoln, caught the ball and placed it in his child’s glove.

But just moments later, a woman stormed toward them, claiming the ball was hers because it landed near her seat.
“She jumped in front of me, reached for my arm and just started going off,” Feltwell recalled. “She kept yelling, ‘That’s my ball! You stole it from our seats!’”
A Father’s Split-Second Decision
Feltwell said he was shocked by the aggression, especially in front of his young son. With cameras rolling and the crowd’s attention locked in, he weighed his options.
“I pretty much just wanted her to go away,” he explained. “I could either escalate and regret it, or be a dad and show my son how to de-escalate the situation.”
Ultimately, he gave in and handed the ball to the woman, even though he was the one who retrieved it first.
Backlash and Viral Outrage
The confrontation quickly spread online, with clips labeling the woman “Phillies Karen.” Social media erupted, criticizing her for berating a father and child over a souvenir.
A Marlins representative later stepped in, apologizing to Lincoln and offering him a goodie bag of team merchandise. To cap the night, Lincoln also met Harrison Bader, who gifted him a signed bat to replace the lost ball.
