Elizabeth City Man Held on $3M Bond After Multi-Agency Narcotics Raid

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A 44-year-old man is being held on a $3 million bond after deputies say he was caught with large amounts of fentanyl, meth, and cocaine during a multi-agency drug raid.

Arrest and Charges

The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations, arrested Brian Christopher Paxton on Thursday, September 4.

Paxton faces 12 felony narcotics charges, including:

  • Trafficking opium or heroin
  • Possession with intent to sell or deliver controlled substances
  • Maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for drug activity

Search Warrants Lead to Seizure

Deputies executed three search warrants targeting two homes — one on Old Oak Road and another on Northside Road — as well as Paxton’s vehicle.

Investigators seized trafficking-level quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine, along with $1,225 in cash and additional evidence linked to drug distribution.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities say the case remains active and that more charges are possible as the investigation continues. Paxton is currently being held at the Albemarle District Jail.

This arrest highlights the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in northeastern North Carolina, where law enforcement agencies are increasingly working together across jurisdictions to target major suppliers.
