DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A crash on Friday afternoon forced the closure of all lanes of Interstate 85 North near Exit 87 for US 29 in Davidson County, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The incident occurred around Mile Marker 86, with traffic brought to a standstill as officials worked to redirect vehicles off the interstate.

Detours in Place

Drivers traveling through the area are being instructed to take Exit 87 onto US 29, then re-access I-85 by using Exit 86 for South Main Street and East 10th Avenue, before following Cotton Grove Road/NC 8 back to the interstate.

Motorists also have the option of continuing along US 29 into Guilford County to reconnect with I-85 North.
