Charlotte Man Arrested in Duplin County Traffic Stop, 60 Pounds of Marijuana Seized
DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A Charlotte man was arrested Thursday after deputies discovered 60 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 40, according to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.
K9 Alert Leads to Discovery
Authorities say 27-year-old Tyler Blackwood was stopped by the Duplin County Special Operations Division, the Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team, and the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office near Exit 373 on I-40.
During the stop, K9 Cortez alerted officers to the possible presence of narcotics, prompting a search of the vehicle. Investigators then uncovered 60 pounds of marijuana.
Charges and Bond
Blackwood was charged with:
- Felony trafficking marijuana
- No operator’s license
- Following too closely
He was booked into the Duplin County Jail under a $75,000 bond.
