Austin Woman Found Chained in Backyard for Months by ‘Friends’ Who Said They Didn’t Like Her Anymore, Police Say

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas woman was found chained and tortured in a backyard after being held captive for several months by people she once considered friends, according to law enforcement officials.

The Austin Police Department said officers responded to a distress call at a home on October 30, 2025, around 9:09 a.m., where they discovered the victim handcuffed to outdoor exercise equipment behind the residence.

Authorities said the woman showed visible signs of physical distress and prolonged restraint, adding that the individuals who allegedly held her captive told investigators they “didn’t like her anymore.

Police Describe Disturbing Scene

In a police report obtained after the arrests, investigators said officers were forced to cut through heavy metal links to safely release the victim from the chains. Due to her injuries and overall condition, she was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

“The victim was visibly weak and appeared to have been restrained for a long period of time,” the report stated. “The condition of the equipment made her release extremely difficult.”

Multiple Arrests Made

Authorities identified and arrested five individuals believed to be connected to the crime. The suspects have been charged in connection with unlawful restraint and possible aggravated assault, pending further investigation.

Police have not released the victim’s identity to protect her privacy but confirmed that she is recovering under medical supervision.

Ongoing Investigation

Investigators are now working to determine the motive behind the disturbing case, which officials have described as “severe abuse and confinement.”

Law enforcement is reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and conducting forensic testing at the property where the woman was found.

Austin police urge anyone with additional information about the case to contact the APD Aggravated Assault Unit or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
