Uptown Charlotte Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Others Injured Near Spectrum Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A deadly shooting erupted early Saturday near the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte, leaving one person dead and two others injured, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers were called around 1:30 a.m. on July 5 to the 200 block of North Caldwell Street, where they discovered two gunshot victims at the scene. One of those victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Third Victim Shows Up at Hospital Hours Later

Later the same night, police say a third individual connected to the shooting arrived at a local hospital. That person’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities have not disclosed any identities or suspect information as of Sunday, and the investigation remains active.

Homicide Detectives Leading the Case

CMPD’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Officials have not shared what may have led to the shooting, nor whether the victims were known to each other.

“A homicide investigation has been launched,” confirmed Queen City News. “Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting or if anyone has been arrested.”
