Dog Attack in Laurens County Sends South Carolina Man to Hospital by Helicopter
LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. — A man was flown to the hospital Tuesday after being attacked by multiple dogs in Laurens County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident happened on Oak Tree Road, where deputies said the victim was mauled by three dogs. Two of the animals have been captured, while one remains unaccounted for.
Arrest and Investigation
Authorities confirmed one person has been arrested in connection with the case, and more arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
Local animal control officers were called to the scene to secure the captured dogs, though officials have not said whether the animals will be euthanized.
Neighbors Raise Alarm
Several neighbors said the attack was not surprising, claiming the dogs had shown aggressive behavior before.
“It makes me really upset and scared because what happened to that poor man shouldn’t have ever happened. It could’ve been prevented, and I just think that we need to stop letting all these dogs run loose, ’cause it’s unfair and endangering our neighborhood,” said Savannah Griswell, who lives nearby.
Another neighbor, Kathy Smith, said she had been bitten by the same dogs while walking in the area. Her main concern is for children.
“It’s kind of scary, to know that that could’ve been my grand-babies,” Smith said.
Community on Edge
The victim’s condition has not been publicly released, but the attack has left the neighborhood shaken and demanding stronger enforcement of animal control laws.
