Rockingham County Woman Arrested for Making Violent Threats Toward Children On Social Media

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Rockingham County woman with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested after allegedly making violent threats online aimed at students at a Triad high school.

Graphic Threats Caught on Video

Sheriff Sam Page said 37-year-old Heather Brooke Clarke was reported to investigators after community members saw her livestreaming a cellphone video in which she threatened to kill students outside McMichael High School.

“The threats that were made were so graphic that I can’t say it on TV,” Page noted.

Arrest and Charges

Deputies placed the school on a brief lockdown while investigating. Clarke was arrested Thursday around 11 a.m., just half a mile from the school at a McDonald’s.

She is now in jail on a $500,000 secured bond and faces up to two years in prison if convicted of communicating threats.

Clarke’s Criminal History

Authorities confirmed Clarke has an extensive record, including:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Simple assault
  • Burglary
  • Felony drug possession
  • DWI
  • Child abuse and child abuse inflicting serious injury
  • Communicating threats

She reportedly completed probation in 2022 but has faced repeated legal troubles since.

Sheriff’s Response and School Safety

Sheriff Page said any threats against schools will be met with swift action.

“These school shootings around the country and other violence — we will not tolerate that in Rockingham County,” he said.

He also encouraged parents and students to use the Say Something app, which allows anonymous reporting of suspicious behavior or threats.
