Indiana Crash on US 24/35 Leaves Three Seriously Injured; Driver Faces Charges

LOGANSPORT, IN – A violent late-night collision on US 24/35 in Cass County left three people seriously injured Friday night, including a child, and resulted in one driver being taken into custody on multiple charges.

Crash at County Road 325 East

The crash happened around 11:40 p.m. Friday when a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, traveling eastbound, attempted to turn north into the crossover at County Road 325 East. Deputies say the vehicle entered the path of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound, leading to a devastating impact.

Authorities identified the Chrysler’s driver as 19-year-old Delorean Mason of Bainbridge, Indiana. Her 11-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle. Both were trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters before being airlifted to Indianapolis hospitals with serious injuries.

Silverado Driver Arrested After Crash

The Silverado’s driver, 35-year-old Michael Klish of Louisville, Kentucky, also sustained serious injuries and was first transported to Parkview Logansport Hospital, then later transferred to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Deputies revealed that Klish had earlier been clocked driving 85 mph. After receiving medical care, he was booked into the Cass County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including:

  • Operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury
  • Reckless driving
  • Possession of marijuana

An officer at the scene noted:

“This was a crash that never should have happened. Speed and impairment combined to create devastating consequences.”

Roadway Shut Down During Response

Both vehicles sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene. Authorities closed part of US 24/35 for about an hour while firefighters, deputies, and EMS crews worked to extricate victims, clear the debris, and launch an investigation.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was joined by Indiana State Police, Logansport Police Department, multiple fire departments, and Cass County EMS in the emergency response.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.

Officials stressed the importance of responsible driving, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced and impaired driving increases risks.

A Cass County deputy reflected:

“Our goal is to prevent tragedies like this. Every decision to drive impaired or at dangerous speeds puts lives at risk.”
