Charlotte Teen Accused of Attempted Murder Released on House Arrest, Police Say

CHARLOTTE, NC — A 15-year-old facing multiple violent felony charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, has been released on house arrest — a decision the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says undermines community safety.

Teen Previously on Probation Before Armed Robbery Arrest

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the teen had already violated probation following an armed robbery on April 7. Despite concerns raised by the assistant district attorney, the court ordered the teen be placed under the same supervision arrangement that failed to prevent the prior crimes.

“This individual was already under supervision when these crimes occurred,” the department stated in a post shared via their official X account, calling the situation part of a broader problem involving repeat juvenile offenders.

List of Charges Against the Juvenile Offender

Officers said the teen was arrested on May 25 and now faces the following charges:

  • Attempted first-degree murder on officers (×2)

  • Discharging a firearm into an occupied property (×3)

  • Possession of a handgun by a minor

  • Larceny of a motor vehicle

  • Breaking and entering a motor vehicle (×2)

  • Resisting a public officer

  • Felony possession of a stolen vehicle

The CMPD emphasized the need for community-wide reform to address repeat juvenile offenses, stating that law enforcement alone cannot curb the cycle without systemic support.
