Slightly Cooler Less Humid Air Returns to North Carolina Monday With Highs Near 94 Across Fayetteville and Eastern Areas
RALEIGH, NC — North Carolina is enjoying a noticeably more comfortable Monday, June 15, with partly to mostly sunny skies, slightly cooler temperatures, and reduced humidity across most of the state, though high temperatures will still reach the 80s and low 90s for the majority of residents with an isolated early shower possible and cooler conditions across the mountains.
Statewide Temperature Breakdown
North Carolina’s Weather Authority high temperature data for Monday shows the warmest readings across central and eastern North Carolina. Fayetteville reaches 94°F, with St. Pauls, Clinton, and Whiteville all hitting 94°F as well. Lumberton tops out at 94°F, while Monroe and Charlotte reach 90°F. Raleigh climbs to 92°F, with Goldsboro, Wilson, and Kinston in the 92 to 93°F range.
Eastern coastal communities including Wilmington reach 92°F, with Calabash and Southport in the upper 80s to low 90s. Greensboro holds at 86°F while the mountains offer the most relief, with Boone at 71°F, Banner Elk at 73°F, and Murphy at 80°F.
A Welcome Step Down in Humidity
While temperatures remain warm across most of the state, the standout feature of Monday is the reduction in humidity compared to recent days. This change, combined with slightly lower temperatures than the weekend’s extreme heat, will make outdoor conditions noticeably more tolerable across central and eastern North Carolina.
Northwest winds at 5 to 20 mph will help reinforce the drier and more comfortable airmass moving into the state, providing a refreshing change after the oppressive heat index values North Carolina experienced over the weekend.
Isolated Shower Chance
An isolated shower cannot be fully ruled out early in the day across portions of the state, particularly in eastern sections. Beyond this small early-day chance, the remainder of Monday should remain largely quiet and dry statewide.
A Pleasant Day Overall
With partly to mostly sunny skies, more comfortable humidity, and only a minimal isolated shower risk, Monday represents one of the more pleasant weather days North Carolina has seen recently, offering residents a welcome break before any potential pattern changes later in the week.
