18-Year-Old Charged After Shooting at Car in Statesville Walmart Parking Lot
STATESVILLE, N.C. – A teenage suspect is in custody and another remains unidentified following a shoplifting and shooting incident in the parking lot of a Statesville Walmart on Sunday, according to Statesville Police.
Authorities say the incident unfolded at the Walmart on Crossroads Drive, where officers responded to reports of shots fired. At the scene, police located a vehicle struck by gunfire and multiple shell casings scattered across the parking lot.
Theft Preceded the Shooting
Investigators believe the suspects were involved in a shoplifting theft inside the store shortly before the shooting occurred. They reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle that was later located by officers at a nearby residence.
Inside the residence, police arrested 18-year-old Keandre Terrell Cauthen without incident. Cauthen now faces the following charges:

Discharging a firearm into occupied property (felony)

Misdemeanor larceny
Cauthen was issued a $100,000 secured bond and remains in custody.
Search Continues for Second Suspect
A second individual involved in the case has not yet been identified. Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
