FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA — A 32-year-old Woodbridge resident was arrested late Friday after deputies say he backed a truck into another vehicle at a Sheetz gas station and was then found slumped over the steering wheel, with the truck still running and in gear, according to details shared in the report.

The suspect was identified as Jaleel Moorehead, 32, and the incident happened at a Sheetz in Washington Square Plaza in Fredericksburg.

Deputies Say the Crash Was Reported Just Before 10:15 p.m.

According to the details provided, deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office were called to the gas station shortly before 10:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 after reports came in that a truck had backed into another vehicle at the pump.

It was also reported that the driver “appeared to be passed out at the wheel,” which raised concerns for safety and prompted a quick response.

Driver Found Slumped Over the Wheel With Truck Running

When deputies arrived, they approached the vehicle and found Moorehead slumped over the steering wheel, according to the report. Deputies noted the truck was running and still in gear, a detail that can create an immediate risk in a crowded gas station area, especially near pumps and pedestrians.

A deputy was able to wake Moorehead, who reportedly appeared disoriented.

Signs of Impairment Noted at the Scene

The report says Moorehead then failed field sobriety tests, leading deputies to take him into custody.
