Thief Posing as Customer Steals $10,000 Worth of Merchandise from Glendale Boutique
GLENDALE, Calif. — Police in Glendale are investigating a brazen theft at a local boutique after a man posing as a customer escaped with $10,000 worth of high-end merchandise, according to store surveillance footage.
The incident occurred at Qualité Los Angeles, a designer clothing and accessories shop located in Kenneth Village, a popular shopping and dining district in the city.
Thief Caught on Camera
Video captured the suspect entering the store and browsing merchandise before abruptly fleeing with several expensive items. The footage shows him grabbing products near the checkout area and running out the door before employees could stop him.
Store owner Anthony Montes said the man had initially appeared to be a legitimate customer, even engaging in conversation before the theft occurred. “He acted normal the whole time, then just took off with everything in seconds,” Montes told reporters.
Police Investigation Underway
The suspect is described as a young man wearing glasses and a white sweatshirt with purple lettering, seen in multiple angles from the store’s security system. Glendale police have released images from the video and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual.
Authorities believe the stolen goods included high-end clothing brands and limited-edition accessories, all part of the shop’s luxury inventory.
Store Owner Urges Vigilance
Montes urged other small businesses in the area to stay alert and ensure cameras are functioning properly. “We’re just trying to recover what was lost and make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else,” he said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the theft or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the Glendale Police Department’s Burglary Unit.
