Terrified Puppy Abandoned Twice in One Month Now Desperately Seeking a Forever Home

CALIFORNIA — A young puppy who was abandoned on the streets twice in just four weeks is now in desperate need of a permanent, loving home.

Rescue workers say the frightened pup — who has yet to be named — was first discovered last month with his mother and siblings before being taken in by a passerby. However, within a few weeks, the person who adopted him decided he was “too much work” and surrendered him to a shelter.

Animal rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, shared the heartbreaking story on social media, describing how the puppy’s life began with neglect and rejection.

Rescued From an Alley — Then Abandoned Again

In her post, Hall recalled the day her team found the puppy’s mother tied tightly in an alley beside a cardboard box holding two of her newborns. At the time, rescuers believed those were her only surviving puppies.

“Remember the mama dog who was tied so tightly in the alley — the one with her two little puppies dumped in a box that we rescued?” Hall wrote. “We had no idea she had another baby. Someone had taken that last puppy from her in the alley before we even got there.”

According to The Mirror, Hall later learned that the person who took the final puppy decided they no longer wanted him after he started to grow and require more attention.

“My heart broke,” Hall said. “He had already been dumped once, and then ripped away from his mama when he still needed her milk. And before we could even make a plan to get him, she took him straight to the shelter. Dumped again. Alone again.”

Terrified and Shaking But Finally Safe

When Hall finally located the puppy, she said he was visibly terrified — trembling and hesitant to trust anyone. “He was shaking so hard when I picked him up,” she said. “He didn’t understand what was happening — only that he’d been left alone again.”

Hall shared that the pup will be given a full health evaluation before being paired with a suitable adopter. “We’ll make sure he’s healthy, comfortable, and ready before finding him a home where he’ll be loved the way he deserves,” she said.

Logan’s Legacy Continues Its Mission

Hall’s organization, Logan’s Legacy 29, is dedicated to rescuing abandoned and neglected dogs across Southern California. She and her team work tirelessly to save animals from dangerous environments and give them second chances.

In recent years, the group has helped hundreds of dogs find safe, stable homes — but Hall says each case like this one is a reminder of why their work is so important.

“This little guy has been through more in a few weeks than most animals go through in a lifetime,” Hall said. “He’s scared now, but I know we’ll find him the family he’s been waiting for.”

A Plea for Compassion

Animal advocates are using this case to highlight the growing number of abandonment and surrender cases seen nationwide. Many shelters remain overcrowded, and rescue groups are urging pet owners to seek help before giving up their animals.

“Abandoning a puppy isn’t just cruel — it can be deadly,” Hall said. “There’s always a better option. Every life matters.”
