TAMPA, FLORIDA — Residents across Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Lakeland are waking up to low clouds and pockets of dense fog, especially in coastal communities, before sunshine returns later today and temperatures climb into the upper 70s. Forecasters say the fog will create reduced visibility during the early morning commute, particularly in areas closer to the Gulf Coast.

Foggy Start Along the Coast

Low clouds and areas of dense fog are most noticeable near Tampa Bay and along coastal stretches, where humid air and calm overnight conditions allowed fog to develop.

Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute, as visibility could drop quickly in some neighborhoods. Inland areas may also experience patchy fog, though conditions are expected to improve steadily through mid-morning. By 11 a.m., skies are forecast to turn mostly sunny across much of the region. Afternoon highs are expected to reach around 75 degrees by early afternoon, with peak temperatures near 77 degrees around 3 p.m.

Even by 5 p.m., temperatures should remain comfortably warm in the mid-70s under clear skies. Communities including Clearwater, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland can expect a beautiful and mild afternoon once morning fog clears.
