Student Brings Knife to Central Elementary in Currituck County; School Says No Threat Was Made
CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. — Central Elementary School officials confirmed that a student brought a knife to campus this week, but emphasized that no threats were made and the situation was quickly contained.
In a letter sent to parents on Monday, administrators said they received a report that a student might have a knife. Staff immediately investigated and confiscated the weapon.
School Officials Emphasize No Threat
The school’s letter assured families that the student never threatened to use the knife.
“There was no immediate threat to the safety of the school community, nor was the student communicating threats to use the knife at school,” the letter stated.
Response and Disciplinary Action
The knife’s discovery was reported to law enforcement, and district officials confirmed that disciplinary measures are being taken in line with school policy.
School leaders also thanked those who came forward with concerns, noting that the quick response helped ensure safety.
“District officials would like to thank those who took the appropriate steps to contact school administrators with their concerns,” the letter said.
