Storms And Heavy Rain Forecast For Western Georgia With Flood Risk
TBILISI, Georgia — The National Environment Agency has issued a warning for residents in western Georgia, cautioning of severe storms and heavy rainfall expected over the coming days.
Black Sea Storm and Inland Threats
Forecasters predict storm activity over the Black Sea, with waves reaching 4–6 points on the Beaufort scale. Inland, the same weather system will bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds through Sunday, Sept. 21.

Officials warn that the incoming rain could cause significant rises in river water levels, particularly in western Georgian rivers. Smaller rivers face a flash flood threat, while mountainous and hilly zones are at risk of landslides and mudflows.
The agency emphasized that the danger level is high and urged residents to remain alert and avoid hazardous areas.
Rainfall Timeline
Rain is expected to continue in western Georgia until Sunday afternoon, with some areas experiencing intense thunderstorms. Coastal communities should also prepare for rough seas and dangerous boating conditions.
