Rain and Storms to Return Across South Georgia This Weekend
ALBANY, Ga. – After several rain-free days, South Georgia will see wetter weather return this weekend as tropical moisture flows back into the region.
Brief Break From Rain Comes to an End
A northeast wind brought drier air into the area late this week, giving residents a short break from the recent soggy stretch. Friday morning temperatures dipped into the upper 60s and low 70s, with afternoon highs topping out in the mid to upper 80s.
While most of Friday will stay dry, forecasters say a few isolated showers may develop along and east of I-75.
Tropical Moisture Brings Weekend Storm Chances
By Saturday, a southeast flow will push humidity back into South Georgia, increasing the likelihood of scattered showers and thunderstorms through Sunday. A tropical wave moving west across Florida into the Gulf of Mexico will help feed this moisture, keeping rain chances elevated into next week.
Daytime highs are expected to stay below average in the mid-80s over the weekend before warming into the upper 80s to low 90s next week.
Tropical Outlook Remains Active
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring three separate disturbances in the Atlantic. While none currently pose a threat to land, the above-average hurricane season is expected to peak in early September and continue through November 30.
Forecasters continue to stress that it only takes one storm to cause major damage, urging residents to stay prepared.
