One Dead After Deer Struck on Indiana Highway 67 Causes Fatal Crash Near Paragon

PARAGON, INDIANA — Authorities in Morgan County are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday evening along Highway 67 near Paragon after a deer struck by one vehicle was thrown into oncoming traffic, leading to the death of a passenger in another car.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, a northbound vehicle first hit the deer, causing the animal’s body to become airborne and collide with a southbound car. The impact fatally injured one passenger inside that second vehicle.

Emergency crews, including deputies and first responders, arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. Investigators closed off a section of Highway 67 for several hours as they worked to clear debris and document the sequence of events.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending family notification. Officials described the crash as a “very tragic accident” and extended condolences to the families affected.
