The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg reported that northeast winds will peak near 18–20 mph on Tuesday, particularly during midday and evening. Morning commuters may also experience reduced visibility due to blowing roadside debris.
Skies will remain sunny with highs near 77 degrees, while overnight lows dip into the upper 50s, signaling the first taste of fall weather.
Travel Hazards on Charlotte Highways
Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use caution on elevated stretches of I-77, I-485, and I-85, where crosswinds could pose challenges. Communities including Huntersville, Belmont, and Mint Hill are also expected to feel the strongest gusts.
Officials recommend residents secure outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash bins to prevent damage.
