North Carolina Man Claims Mysterious Creature Jumped Onto His Truck at Night: ‘He Feels Something Jump On The Back Of His Pick Up Truck’
PENDER COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina man says a late-night drive turned into a chilling encounter after an unidentified creature leapt onto the back of his pickup truck, leaving scratches and sparking debate about what he saw.
The 911 Call
The incident was first reported in a 911 call on Aug. 31, 2021, at 11:03 p.m. The man, identified only as T, told dispatchers he saw a figure on the roadside near a historic battlefield in Pender County. He described the figure as bleeding from the head and wearing what looked like a Civil War uniform.
Moments later, T heard a loud thud in his truck bed. Terrified, he screamed, “That’s not human!” as he realized something had landed in his vehicle.
A Terrifying Description
When T slammed on the brakes, the figure tumbled off and rolled onto the road. He described it as scrawny, with abnormally long arms and legs, standing nearly 7 feet tall when it rose to its feet.
“It looked like somebody took a normal human and stretched them out,” T said later.
After the encounter, he noticed scratches on the top of his truck, which deputies confirmed but could not explain.

The story gained traction after being featured on the Carolina Case Files YouTube channel. TikTok users quickly spread clips of the account, with many speculating whether the creature was a ghost, cryptid, or something paranormal.
Locals also weighed in online, calling North Carolina a “hotspot for UFOs and paranormal activity.”
Still a Mystery
Authorities never identified what the man saw. Sheriff Alan Butler of Pender County admitted:
“I’m afraid it’s probably just one of those things in this world that we may not ever know the answer to.”
Whether ghostly soldier, unknown animal, or something stranger, the incident has become one of the state’s more unsettling roadside mysteries.
