North Carolina Ends Workweek With Cool Sunshine in the 40s and 50s Before Weekend Warmup and Sunday Rain Return

NORTH CAROLINA — The state is wrapping up the workweek with a cool but tranquil Friday, featuring partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures slightly below normal before a brief weekend warmup and the return of rain on Sunday.

Forecasters say residents can expect a calm and quiet day across much of the state, with northwesterly winds around 5 to 10 mph and no major weather concerns.

Cool Morning Followed by Sunny Skies

Friday begins with a cooler start statewide, but sunshine will dominate through the afternoon. High temperatures are projected to reach the 40s and 50s across North Carolina.

Mountain communities such as Boone, Banner Elk, and Highlands are expected to remain in the mid-40s to low 50s. Asheville, Marion, and Hickory should see highs in the low to mid-50s.

Across the Piedmont, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Durham, Raleigh, and Charlotte are forecast to reach the low to mid-50s, with Charlotte potentially touching the upper 50s.

Coastal Areas Stay Mild but Slightly Below Normal

Eastern North Carolina and coastal communities will also experience a cool, dry day. Highs in Elizabeth City, Edenton, and the Outer Banks are expected to remain in the upper 30s to mid-40s.

Cities such as Greenville, New Bern, Jacksonville, and Wilmington should see highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. While temperatures are slightly below seasonal averages, the sunshine and light winds will make for comfortable conditions.

Saturday Warmup Ahead of Next System

A gradual warmup is expected Saturday as temperatures climb a few degrees higher statewide. Most areas could return to the mid-to-upper 50s, with some communities approaching the low 60s. However, this improvement will be short-lived.

Rain Returns Sunday

Forecasters indicate the next weather system is set to arrive Sunday, bringing increasing cloud cover and rainfall chances back to the state. Timing and rainfall totals will become clearer as the weekend approaches, but Sunday currently marks the transition back to wetter conditions.

For now, Friday offers a peaceful close to the workweek with sunshine and manageable temperatures before changes arrive. Are you enjoying the cool sunshine before the weekend warmup? Share your local weather observations with us at SaludaStandard-Sentinel.com.
