Hot, Mostly Dry Thursday Ahead for North Georgia, With Storm Chances East

ATLANTA, Ga. — North Georgia is set to experience a mostly dry, sunny Thursday with temperatures climbing into the low 90s, marking another stretch of late-summer heat for the region. According to Atlanta News First, rain chances will remain low for most of the area, with only eastern counties facing a higher risk of evening storms.

Weak System Moving Out

The lingering weather system that brought scattered rainfall earlier this week has shifted northeast, taking much of its moisture with it. This shift means Athens, Eatonton, and nearby areas could still see isolated storms after 4 p.m., while most of North Georgia stays dry.

Forecasters expect highs to reach around 90°F, slightly above the seasonal average of 89°F, under a mix of sunshine and light clouds. The rain probability for the wider North Georgia area is around 20%, concentrated in the far east.

Weekend Weather Outlook

Meteorologists say the region is moving into a typical August pattern — hot, humid afternoons with the potential for pop-up thunderstorms each day. Through the weekend, high temperatures are expected to stay in the low 90s, with humidity making it feel even warmer.

For those planning outdoor events, experts recommend keeping an eye on radar in the late afternoons, when short-lived but heavy storms could develop without much warning.
