Georgia Weather Forecast: Rainfall on August 27 Followed by Hot, Dry Conditions Through August 29
TBILISI, GEORGIA – The National Environmental Agency has released its weather forecast for August 27–29, predicting a mix of showers and thunderstorms in parts of the country on the 27th, followed by hot and dry conditions across most regions on August 28–29.
August 27: Rain and Thunderstorms in Several Regions
Some western and mountainous areas are expected to see light, short-term rainfall with thunderstorms on August 27.
- Coastal regions including Batumi, Kobuleti, Anaklia, and Poti may see showers and storms.
- Lowland areas like Zestafoni, Kutaisi, Samtredia, Zugdidi, Martvili, and Ozurgeti could also see rain.
- Mountainous regions such as Ambrolauri, Oni, Tsageri, Shovi, Chiatura, Sachkhere, Khulo, and Rikoti Pass are forecast for scattered storms.
Officials say the storms will be brief but could bring localized impacts. “We expect light, short-term rainfall with possible thunderstorms across multiple western regions on August 27,” the agency noted in its forecast.
August 28–29: Hot and Dry Conditions Return
By August 28–29, conditions are expected to shift to mostly dry and hot weather statewide.
- Tbilisi will see highs of 33–35°C (91–95°F) with clear skies.
- Coastal regions will remain mostly dry, with highs of 28–30°C (82–86°F).
- Western lowlands will warm to 31–33°C (87–91°F).
- Mountain areas will stay slightly cooler, ranging 25–33°C (77–91°F) depending on elevation.
Eastern areas including Kartli and Kakheti will also see temperatures climb into the mid-30s°C (low to mid-90s°F).
Extended Outlook
Mountainous regions in both eastern and western Georgia are expected to enjoy dry conditions through August 29, with daytime highs varying between 23–33°C (73–91°F).
Officials stressed that although rain chances will be low after the 27th, heat will remain a concern, particularly in lowland and eastern areas.
