Georgia Homicide Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting at Rose Hill Cemetery

MACON, G.A. — A homicide investigation in Bibb County ended in an officer-involved shooting this week, leaving the suspect dead after deputies confronted him at Rose Hill Cemetery, authorities confirmed.

Homicide Case Leads Deputies to Cemetery

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said the incident began on September 2 when the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office launched an inquiry into a fatal shooting that left one person dead and another seriously injured in Macon.

During the investigation, deputies received information that led them to Rose Hill Cemetery, where the homicide suspect was believed to be hiding.

Suspect Killed After Pointing Gun

When deputies attempted to arrest the suspect, authorities said he pointed a firearm at officers. A deputy then fired, striking the man.

The suspect was rushed to a Macon hospital but was later pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.

GBI Investigating Officer Shooting

The GBI has taken over the investigation, which is standard procedure in Georgia officer-involved shootings. Officials confirmed that no deputies were injured during the incident.

Once the case file is complete, it will be turned over to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
