Frost Advisory Issued for Western Maryland and Eastern West Virginia
OAKLAND, Md. — A Frost Advisory has been issued for parts of western Maryland, eastern West Virginia, and Virginia’s Highlands, with temperatures expected to dip into the low 30s early Monday morning.
Overnight Freeze Risk
The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington said the advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday. Temperatures could fall to around 34 degrees in sheltered valleys, leading to patchy frost on lawns, rooftops, and vehicles.
Areas under the advisory include Garrett County, Maryland; Highland County, Virginia; and Grant and Pendleton counties in West Virginia.
Impacts for Residents
Gardeners and homeowners are advised to cover sensitive plants or bring potted flowers indoors to prevent damage. Cold air pooling in mountain valleys makes those areas especially vulnerable.
Motorists may also wake up to frosted windshields, potentially delaying the Monday morning commute.
Warming by Afternoon
While the morning will start with chilly conditions, sunshine is expected to return quickly, allowing afternoon highs to climb into the 60s. Forecasters warn that similar overnight cold spells could repeat later in the week under clear skies.
