Fourth Buc-ee’s Set for Monroe County, Georgia, After Special State Approval

Fourth Buc-ee’s Coming to Monroe County, Georgia, With State Environmental Approval

MONROE COUNTY, GEORGIA – Georgia’s fourth Buc-ee’s location is officially in the works, with construction planned in Monroe County following special approval from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD). The new travel stop, which will be built near protected waterways, is expected to open in March 2027.

Special Approval Needed for Waterway Proximity

The site’s development required what’s known as a stream buffer variance, allowing construction close to two unnamed dendritic tributaries of Deer Creek in the Upper Ocmulgee Watershed. State law generally restricts development near such bodies of water, but environmental regulators granted Buc-ee’s the necessary clearance to proceed.

The project follows the recent opening of Georgia’s largest Buc-ee’s in Brunswick, which debuted in time for Fourth of July travel.

Buc-ee’s Popularity in Georgia Continues to Grow

The Texas-based chain has developed a devoted following for its expansive fuel stations, clean restrooms, and wide selection of road-trip essentials, including BBQ, fudge, and branded snacks. The upcoming Monroe County store will join existing Georgia locations in:

  • Brunswick – 6900 Hwy 99, Brunswick, GA 31525
  • Calhoun – 601 Union Grove Rd. SE, Adairsville, GA 30103
  • Warner Robins – 7001 Russell Parkway, Fort Valley, GA 31030

Expected Opening and Economic Impact

According to WSB-TV, the Monroe County Buc-ee’s is slated to open in March 2027. The store is expected to bring new jobs to the area and attract travelers from Interstate 75.

A Road Trip Staple

Buc-ee’s stores are often considered destinations themselves, featuring dozens of gas pumps, expansive convenience store offerings, and their iconic beaver mascot. For many travelers, stopping at Buc-ee’s is as much a part of the journey as the destination.
