Florida Police: Driver of Stolen Ferrari Crashes Into Utility Pole in Miami’s Brickell Neighborhood After Striking Patrol Vehicle
MIAMI, FL — A high-speed chase through Miami’s Brickell neighborhood ended in a fiery crash when the driver of a stolen Ferrari slammed into a utility pole, igniting a small explosion after first striking a police vehicle, authorities confirmed.
The chaotic scene unfolded late Monday night, December 16, 2025, when officers spotted the exotic car reported stolen from a nearby luxury dealership. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver — whose identity has not yet been released — refused to pull over.
Crash Captured on Video
According to footage obtained by ABC World News Tonight, the Ferrari can be seen colliding with a police cruiser before the driver loses control, veers off the road, and crashes head-on into a utility pole. The impact caused visible sparks and an explosion that briefly engulfed the front of the vehicle in flames.
“It was like something out of an action movie,” said one witness who lives in a nearby apartment. “The car was going way too fast, and then suddenly there was this loud boom — lights went out on the street.”
Emergency crews arrived within minutes, extinguishing the fire and cutting power to part of the area as a safety precaution.
Driver Hospitalized With Minor Injuries
Police say the driver sustained only minor injuries, including a small laceration, and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. No officers were seriously hurt in the crash.
Authorities later confirmed the Ferrari had been reported stolen earlier that day, and an investigation is underway to determine whether the suspect was involved in any additional crimes prior to the chase.
“We’re fortunate that no one else was seriously injured,” a Miami Police Department spokesperson said. “This could have easily turned deadly given the speed, location, and impact.”
Investigation Continues
Traffic in the Brickell area was temporarily diverted as crews cleared debris and repaired the damaged utility pole. Police say charges are pending and will likely include grand theft auto, reckless driving, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
The crash remains under investigation by the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Traffic Homicide and Major Crimes Unit, which handles severe vehicle-related incidents in the area. Stay updated on Florida crime and public safety news by visiting SaludaStandard-Sentinel.com.
