Fatal Route 288 Collision Kills Driver, Injures Three Others in Goochland County
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — A Goochland County crash left one woman dead and three others injured late Saturday night after a vehicle crossed the median and struck another car head-on, according to Virginia State Police.
Fatal Crash Near Tuckahoe Creek Parkway
Troopers said the wreck happened just before 10:45 p.m. Saturday on Route 288 near Tuckahoe Creek Parkway. Investigators determined that a northbound vehicle crossed the grassy median and slammed into a southbound car.
Victim Identified
The southbound driver, 65-year-old Cynthia L. Diggs of Maidens, died at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle was taken to VCU Medical Center with injuries.
The driver and passenger in the northbound vehicle were also transported to VCU Medical Center. Officials have not released details on the severity of their injuries.
Investigation and Road Closure
The crash shut down Route 288 southbound for nearly five hours, reopening to traffic around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.
State police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have yet been announced.
