Fall Sunshine Returns to Northern Virginia After Drizzly Start to the Week

ANNANDALE, Va. — Northern Virginia is set to trade its gray and damp start for a stretch of bright fall sunshine as high pressure builds midweek, bringing mild and comfortable weather to the region, according to the National Weather Service in Sterling.

Drizzle Clears as Dry Air Moves In

Early Tuesday brought patchy drizzle and low clouds, with temperatures hovering around 69°F and north winds near 15 mph. By afternoon, drier air will move in, clearing skies and setting up a string of sunny days across Fairfax, Prince William, and Arlington counties.

Forecasters say the shift marks a refreshing transition to cooler, drier conditions typical of mid-October. By Wednesday, skies will be fully sunny with highs near 70°F and humidity dropping sharply.
