Dogs Kill 2-Year-Old Boy at Unlicensed Georgia Daycare While Owner Slept

VALDOSTA, Ga. — A 2-year-old boy was killed after being mauled by two Rottweilers at an unlicensed daycare center in Valdosta, Georgia, while the daycare owner was asleep, according to police. The daycare operator, 48-year-old Stacy Wheeler Cobb, has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.

Police: Child Left Unattended for Hours

The Valdosta Police Department said Cobb left the toddler unsupervised for more than two hours on Saturday. Investigators believe the child, identified as Kaimir Jones, wandered into the backyard, opened the kennel containing two Rottweilers, and was fatally attacked.
Officers responded to Cobb’s residence around 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a child attack. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed Cobb operated the daycare from her home, located about 228 miles south of Atlanta, and that it was not licensed by the state. Police noted that Kaimir was the only child present that day, though Cobb typically cared for up to 10 children at a time.

Mother’s Devastating Discovery

Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, said she knew something was wrong when Cobb failed to check in for several hours — something she typically did throughout the day. “My intuition said to leave work early,” Jones wrote on a GoFundMe page created in her son’s memory.
When Jones arrived, she discovered that her son had been attacked. “He was mauled to death,” she wrote, describing footage from surveillance cameras. “This was a heartbreaking, devastating and traumatizing scene that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Cobb was arrested and booked into the Lowndes County Jail, where she remains held. Jail records do not list an attorney representing her.
Police Chief Leslie Manahan called the case one of the most tragic the department has encountered. “This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred,” Manahan said. “Because of negligence on this offender’s behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child.”

The two Rottweilers involved in the attack, along with a third dog at the home, were seized by Lowndes County Animal Control. Authorities say the investigation remains open and additional charges are possible.
