Anderson County Man Dies After Two-Car Collision on Highway 187
ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — An Anderson man has died from injuries suffered in a two-car collision on Highway 187, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
Crash Happened at Highway 187 and Huitt Road
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday, when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 187 and Huitt Road. Multiple patients were treated on the scene by emergency responders.
Victim Identified as 84-Year-Old Passenger
One of the injured, 84-year-old Leemorn Peterson of Anderson, was transported to AnMed for treatment. The coroner reported that Peterson later died at 3:14 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials determined the cause of death to be an aortic dissection resulting from the crash, and the manner of death was ruled accidental.

Preliminary findings indicate Peterson was a passenger in a vehicle making a left turn onto Highway 187 from Huitt Road when it was struck by another car traveling along the highway.
Both the Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.
