Texas Bride Goes Viral After Being Kicked Out of Airbnb on Wedding Day — Host Defends Decision
MONTGOMERY, TEXAS — What was supposed to be a joyful wedding morning turned chaotic when a Texas bride and her bridal party were kicked out of their Airbnb rental just hours before the ceremony — a moment that quickly went viral on TikTok. The property owner, however, says the decision was justified and backed by Airbnb itself.
The viral clip, posted by the bride Tierani, shows her bridal party being told to leave while they were getting their hair and makeup done inside the rented property. The TikTok, which has garnered nearly 10 million views, was captioned: “Getting put out of an Airbnb on your wedding day is INSANEEEEEE!”
Bride Says She Was Evicted Over a Small Guest Increase
Tierani claimed the host gave them 30 minutes to vacate after seeing one additional person beyond the six-guest limit. “The limit is six people, and for a short period of time we got up to seven,” she wrote. “The owner who lives right across the street told us we had 30 minutes to leave or she was calling the sheriff’s office. Like be for real! It’s 9 a.m.!”
The bride added that there was no loud noise and that some guests were about to leave. “I’ve never been to Montgomery, Texas before today, and I most definitely won’t be going back,” she wrote in frustration.
Host Says Bride Misrepresented Booking Details
The Airbnb host, Reina Tarte, told Fox 26 Houston that the booking was originally made for two guests, not a full bridal party. The person who booked the reservation never disclosed that the property would be used for wedding-day preparations or that additional guests would be present.
“I sent her a message and told her, ‘Hey, we have a limit of six people because of liability issues,’” Tarte explained. “When you’re talking about liability, there’s a lot of people in there, and on the Airbnb app, there were only two listed. All guests need to be accounted for in case something happens.”
After repeated messages went unanswered, Tarte contacted Airbnb for guidance. The company advised her to cancel the reservation based on the apparent policy violation.
Airbnb Sides With the Host, Issues Full Refund
Airbnb later confirmed the host’s account, stating that the booking was canceled after it became clear that the guest count exceeded the listing’s stated occupancy limit. The company said it issued a full refund to the affected party and reminded users that hosts are allowed to set “House Rules,” including limits on visitors and quiet hours.
An Airbnb spokesperson said most hosts “are committed to honoring bookings and providing a positive experience,” but added that guests should always communicate clearly if they intend to use the space for special events.
Guests Urged to Confirm Details Before Booking
Airbnb also emphasized the importance of transparency when planning events or group stays. Guests are encouraged to review listings carefully and contact hosts directly before booking if they need exceptions to standard rules.
While the video has sparked a heated debate online over fairness and flexibility, both Airbnb and the host maintain that occupancy limits exist for safety and insurance reasons.
As the viral moment continues to circulate, it has reignited conversations around short-term rental etiquette — and the importance of communication between hosts and guests before the big day.
