High-Speed Motorcycle Chase in Georgia Hits 160 mph Before Crash, Driver Charged

HART COUNTY, Ga. — A high-speed motorcycle chase in Hart County reached speeds over 160 mph before ending in a violent crash that left the driver hospitalized and now facing multiple charges.

Chase Reaches Dangerous Speeds

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began around 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 9 when a deputy attempted to stop a 2005 Honda CBR motorcycle in the North Hart school zone on Lavonia Highway.

The rider refused to stop, fleeing north onto Providence Church Road and toward Interstate 85. Deputies called for assistance from the Georgia State Patrol, which intercepted the motorcycle as speeds topped 160 mph.

Crash Ends Pursuit

Authorities said the rider, identified as 34-year-old Dionte Lamar Crittendon of Bowersville, lost control while crossing Whitworth Road. The motorcycle skidded through a curve and crashed into a wooden fence.

Crittendon was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Charges Filed

On Sept. 16, deputies announced that Crittendon faces several charges, including:

  • Felony fleeing
  • Reckless driving
  • Improper display of a tag
  • Passing in a no-passing zone
  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Driving without a license

Authorities said additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
