Williamsburg, Virginia, to Host Two-Day Pancake Festival and Launch Pancake Trail
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Known as the “Pancake Capital of the World,” Williamsburg is leaning into its breakfast fame this September with the debut of a two-day Pancake Festival and a brand-new Pancake Trail.
Why Williamsburg?
With nearly a dozen independent pancake houses plus multiple flapjack-serving diners packed into a city of just 15,000, Williamsburg boasts more pancake houses per square mile than anywhere else in the country. The town is now ready to showcase that reputation with a weekend of flapjack-themed fun.
Festival Details
The event kicks off on Friday, September 26, coinciding with National Pancake Day. Attendees can expect:
- Stacks of pancakes served alongside live music
- A pajama-friendly atmosphere celebrating “breakfast for dinner”
- A Pancake Lab hosted by Capitol Pancake House
- Activities for kids, including a decorating zone and face painting
On Saturday, September 27, the festival moves outdoors to Duke of Gloucester Street, featuring:
- The Sausage Sprint, a dachshund race sure to delight families
- Pancake-themed children’s book readings
- The World Pancake Eating Championship, starring competitive eaters Miki Sudo and Nick Wehry
Introducing the Pancake Trail
To complement the festival, Williamsburg has launched a self-guided Pancake Trail app, offering deals at local favorites such as Shorty’s Diner, Astronomical Pancake House, and Southern Pancake Waffle House. Those who complete the trail ahead of the festival can earn a free t-shirt and festival tickets.
Tickets for Friday night are $20 for adults and $15 for teens, while kids, college students, and Pancake Trail finishers get in free.
