Detroit Police Search for Two Suspects Who Broke Into East Side Home, Then Returned the Next Day for Second Attempt
DETROIT, MI — Detroit police are asking for the community’s help in identifying two suspects who were caught on camera breaking into a home on the city’s east side, then returning the next day to try again. The pair allegedly destroyed security cameras, damaged property, and forced their way inside during the first incident before fleeing the scene.
Home Security Footage Captures Break-In on Devonshire
According to investigators, the first incident occurred on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, around 4:10 p.m., at a residence on the 4100 block of Devonshire. Surveillance footage from the home shows two males approaching the property before destroying two Ring security cameras and forcing open the back door.
Once inside, the suspects damaged items and property before leaving the home. Authorities say their actions were deliberate, with both individuals appearing to know where the cameras were located before disabling them.
Suspects Returned the Next Day for Another Attempt
Detectives say the same two men returned to the same home the following day, attempting to break in once again. However, their second attempt was unsuccessful, and they fled before gaining entry.
Police have released surveillance footage showing the suspects wearing hooded jackets and dark clothing in the hopes that someone in the community may recognize them.
“This was a bold and targeted crime,” one officer noted. “Not only did these individuals break into a home in broad daylight, but they returned the next day as if they owned the place. We’re asking for the public’s assistance to get them identified quickly.”
Police Request Public Assistance
The Detroit Police Department’s 5th Precinct is leading the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about their whereabouts to come forward.
Residents can contact Detroit Police at (313) 596-5540, or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up. Additional information can also be shared via DetroitRewards.tv, where community members may be eligible for rewards if their tips lead to arrests.
Neighborhood Safety Reminder
Police are reminding residents to ensure home security systems and exterior lighting are working properly, and to report suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods immediately.
Homeowners are also encouraged to secure backup cloud storage for surveillance footage, as the suspects’ destruction of on-site cameras highlights the need for offsite video access during investigations.
As the investigation continues, officers are increasing patrols in the surrounding area to reassure residents and deter further incidents.
Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out promptly — even a small detail could help identify the suspects and prevent future crimes.
