8-Year-Old California Girl Escapes Armed Masked Suspects in Frightening Home Invasion Attempt
UNION CITY, CALIFORNIA – A terrifying home invasion attempt was caught on camera after an 8-year-old girl narrowly escaped four armed masked suspects outside her family’s home in Union City on Saturday morning, according to local authorities.
Police said the incident happened around 7:45 a.m. on October 25, 2025, when the child noticed four men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and masks emerging from a white Ford Taurus with handguns in their hands.
The quick-thinking girl immediately raced inside the home on Tidewater Drive, yelling for her mother, who is pregnant. The mother quickly slammed the door shut just as the suspects approached the entryway, preventing them from gaining access.
Police Say Attack May Have Been Targeted
Union City Police responded to the scene moments later and are now classifying the case as an opportunistic robbery attempt, possibly targeting valuables during morning hours.
However, the family fears it may have been more sinister.
“We believe they were trying to kidnap our daughter,” the girl’s father told investigators, expressing deep concern for the motive behind the attack.
Police have not confirmed any links to prior kidnapping attempts but said detectives are exploring all possible motives as part of their ongoing investigation.
Suspects Still at Large
No arrests have been made, but investigators are searching for four men last seen wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and leaving the area in a white Ford Taurus.
Detectives are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the neighborhood to come forward.
“This was an extremely close call,” a Union City Police spokesperson said. “The child’s quick actions likely prevented a tragedy.”
Community Urged to Stay Alert
Residents in the area have been urged to stay vigilant, secure home entrances, and report any suspicious vehicles or individuals.
Authorities said the investigation remains active, and additional patrols have been deployed across nearby neighborhoods to ensure public safety.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Union City Police Department or submit anonymous tips through the department’s crime reporting hotline.
