1 Arrested After South Carolina State Trooper Struck by Vehicle on I-26

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A South Carolina state trooper is recovering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car early Sunday morning on Interstate 26, authorities confirmed.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) said the crash happened around 2 a.m. near mile marker 166. The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office requested LCSD take the lead on the investigation, according to Captain Adam Myrick.

Driver Arrested at Scene

Deputies arrested 45-year-old Anthony Aydlette of Hanhan in connection to the crash. He is charged with driving with a suspended license and is currently being held at the Orangeburg County Detention Center, officials said.

Authorities have not released the trooper’s name, but officials say he remains hospitalized.
