SALUDA STUDENT RECEIVES AWARD FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AT PTC GRADUATION - At Piedmont Technical College’s recent fall commencement exercises, outstanding students from each of the college’s seven supporting counties were honored for academic achievement. Martin Martinez-Clavijo, left, who graduated with an associate in applied science with a major of mechatronics technology, was the honoree for Saluda County.   While January 2020 did not have the rainfall of December 2019, the ground remained soggy the entire month.
  January’s rainfall total was 4.18 inches. This compares to 6.05 inches during the same month last year.
January had fairly comfortable  temperatures for this time of year, with 11 days with highs 60 or  above. The temperatures  ranged from a high of 72 on Jan. 12  to a high of 40 on Jan. 22. The lowest morning temperature, 23, was recorded on Jan. 22.
