90 Year Olds Honored

90-YEAR-OLDS FEATED - Friends of Ridge Spring sponsored a luncheon and celebration for the Ridge Spring residents who were 90 plus years old.  There were six who attended with their guests.  The total number of years of our guests was 559.  How fortunate we all are. 90-Year-Olds Treated To Luncheon

  Friends of Ridge Spring sponsored a luncheon for the Ridge Spring residents who were 90 plus years old.  Lunch was served at the Ridge Hill Baptist Church’s Life Center. 
  There were six who attended with their guests.  E. Phillips Boatwright with his son Skeet Boatwright, Joe Cal Watson with his daughter Mary W. Edmonds, Grady Wise with daughter Sherlene Wise and granddaughter Patrice R. Wise, Pearl Holston with son Larry Holston, Louise Thrailkill with friend Denise Martin, and Betty Ann Cone with son Converse Cone. 
  The preparers of the meal were Steve Thomas, Sherald Rodgers who provided fresh greens out of his garden, Effie Martin, Gerald Watson and me.  Steve Thomas opened the doors and welcomed us to his Church and Life Center.  Thank you.  We also added up the years of the guests and it came to 559 years of living and thankful for the years.

WORLD WAR II VETERANS RECOGNIZED - The American Legion Post 133 of Ridge Spring hosted the annual Christmas dinner for wives and widows on December 3.  The Post recognized three of their own World War II veterans, Harry Bell, Phillips Boatwright, and Joe Cal Watson. High School 20-22 Realignment Announced


  The S.C. High School League has announced the sports’ region realignments for the 2020-2021 seasons.
  Saluda will be in a new conference, Region 4-2A, which will include Batesburg-Leesville, Columbia, Eau Claire, Gray Collegiate and Newberry. The region is in the Lower State.
  Old foes Abbeville and Ninety Six are in Region 1-2A; Silver Bluff has moved to Region 5-2A with Barnwell; and Fox Creek has moved up to 3A in the same region with fellow Edgefield County school Strom Thurmond, who they have never played in football.
  Ridge Spring-Monetta’s Region 3-1A remains basically the same, except Calhoun County has moved into the league from 2A.
