GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS
  Saluda High School Girls Varsity Tennis fells to Mid-Carolina High School 5-1 Thursday, September 12.
  The girls suffered their first loss of the season tonight against a solid Mid-Carolina team. The girls played tough and hung in there. A lot of shots got past us, but the girls played well.Doubles (Abby Gentry & Sarah Shore) pulled out one win for the Tigers!
  Saluda High School Girls Varsity Tennis beat Pelion High School 6-0 Girls Tennis came away with another win today against Pelion! Every girl that played won. The girls played hard in the hot afternoon sun!We are extremely excited to be 4-1 on the season so far!
  Saluda High School Girls Varsity Tennis fell to Whitmire High School 5-1 Thursday, September 19.Saluda Girls Tennis fell short to Whitmire. The girls played well and kept in the match. Unfortunately, in the end, the Tigers came up short. We are currently 4-2 on the season. Carter Collins brought home the single win for Saluda. The Tigers are looking forward to starting region play next week with a match at Fox Creek on Tuesday and a match at Abbeville on Thursday.Let’s go Tigers!!!!

  Saluda High School Girls Varsity Volleyball fell to Ninety Six High School 3-1 Thursday, September 19 The Lady Tigers struggled to get their game started in the first two sets. They fought hard and took the third set but fell in the fourth set to give Ninety Six the win.

  Saluda Middle School Football beat Sanders 34-0 Thursday, September 19.The Tigers won their first game of the year with a strong performance by the Tigers D. Jaylen Nick scored the first TD of the night on a scoop and score created the way of a sack by Quran Abney. Nick scored the next possession from a short run. The TD was set up by a long run by Kenmane Brunson. Right before half Nick scored on pass from QB Javeon Graham. Nick scores his last TD on the night, a rush from 4 yards out. The drive was started with a interception by Brunson. Tymar Cannon scored the last touchdown for the Tigers on a scoop and score created by a host of Tigers. The SMS Tigers play Clinton at home


Tournament Memorializes Late
Legislator Through Scholarships

  The 23nd Annual Larry E. Gentry Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sun., Oct. 6,at Persimmon Hill.
  The tournament will tee-off at 1:00 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 13.
  Since its inception in 1997 the tournament has presented college scholar-ships to 26 Saluda High School seniors in memory of the late legislator who died suddenly at his home on Mar. 26, 1997, at the age of 47.
  Larry E. Gentry grew up in Saluda County, a son of W.M. and the late Trannye L. Gentry, and graduated from Saluda High School in 1967. He went on to the University of South Carolina, where he received a degree in Business Administration in 1971. Gentry returned to USC to study law and was awarded his Juris Doctor degree in 1978. He opened his law practice that same year, and remained affiliated with his family-owned Gentry Poultry Company, as well.
  He was elected to the House of Representatives from District 39 in 1979 and served continuously until 1992.
  Gentry was active in community affairs and served as a deacon at Saluda Baptist Church.
